Do you appreciate that Nancy Garrido actually met and married Phillip Garrido whilst he was in Leavenworth Penitentiary in Kansas serving a 50-year federal sentence for kidnap and violent sexual assault?. She was 26 and he was 30. His psychiatric evaluation diagnosed him as a "sexual deviant and chronic drug abuser".

In spite of this we let Nancy not only to meet him in prison but gave them sufficient time together to form a relationship, get engaged and eventually marry whilst he was still incarcerated! How could we let this happen!

The issue of Prison Marriages needs to be reconsidered!

Did we place a weak and unstable woman under the influence and mastery of a diagnosed incarcerated "sexual deviant"? Or was Nancy a willing female pedophile?

Maybe one of society's last taboos is the concept of 'female pedophiles acting alone'. Nancy we know was not acting alone but as soon as a man is involved we assume the woman acted under duress, fear or is coerced by the man.Thereby taking away any responsibility the woman has for the abuse of the child. We push away the idea that women can be willingly participate in the sexual abuse of children.

Female sexual abuse is much more threatening to the fabric of our society- it undermines our core beliefs and feelings about how women should relate to children.

Should Nancy Garrido fall into the classification of a female pedophile? Was she intimidated or acted willingly?

Even after the trial we cannot be certain that the truth will out but that still doesn't disguise the fact. We paid for the wedding!

Garrido was convicted of kidnap and rape and began serving a 50-year federal sentence on June 30, 1977, at Leavenworth Penitentiary in Kansas. In a court-ordered psychiatric evaluation, Garrido was diagnosed as a "sexual deviant and chronic drug abuser."

While he was locked up in Leavenworth Phillip Garrido met Nancy. She was there visiting another prisoner, her uncle. On October 5, 1981, Phillip Garrido and Nancy Bocanegra were married at Leavenworth. Seven years before Phillip would be released from prison

Let us be frank about this. Did we place a weak and vulnerable woman under the power and control of a diagnosed incarcerated "sexual deviant" or are women pedophiles much more responsible for their abuse of children than society wishes to admit?

Prison Marriages. Have we let our penitentiaries be a contact club for sexual deviants? Not only that we then marry them!
